Rug making

Rug making is an intensely individual craft and therefore it is unwise to be dogmatic as regards many of its aspects. Few hard and fast rules have been laid down; stitch directions have been kept as simple as possible consistent with clarity and are illustrated by detailed diagrams at each stage; and all technical suggestions are such as have been tried and found to work satisfactorily, both personally and from the experience of many pupils.

It is hoped that having considered the various types of rugs discussed, and studied the directions for working them, anyone interested in the subject will feel able, without further tuition, to start on a rug that will give much pleasure in the making and will result in the creation of "a thing of beauty".
