Oriental rugs
Anything in the way of a treatise upon such a vast subject as Oriental rugs is, of course, completely outside the scope of this book.
There are numerous excellent and erudite works to be enjoyed by all those interested enough to dive into them, and it is hoped that information on simple methods of rug making may arouse such interest.
A few gleanings from the fascinating story are, however, not out of place and may enhance the pleasure of the needlewoman (or man) who, admiring Oriental rugs and desiring to possess such beauty, realises how prohibitive is their cost and so starts to make rugs that can be thoroughly satisfying and lovely in their own right, albeit ersatz in that they are worked with a needle on a ready-made foundation instead of being hand knotted or woven on a loom.
